Tri-Level Perks, Format & Regulations Play Your Way to Indian Wells --
play and win at the Maui District qualifying and Hawaii Pacific Section events
and winners will advance to play in the Tri-Level National Invitational Championships at Indian Wells in March 2012.
The winners also receive access to the event and tickets to the BNP Paribas Open finals. In addition you will receive
a banquet invitation, awards, other gifts, t-shirts, snacks and beverages.
Format: A typical tri-level league team consists of 3.5/4.0/4.5 men’s & women’s doubles teams.
A complete team would consist of a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 24 (3.5m/3.5w, 4.0m/4.0w, 4.5m/4.5w).
The NTRP rating of each player may be .5 below but must not exceed the level of each Division (i.e. a 3.5 could play on a 4.0 team).
Each level/gender team may consist of a minimum of two and maximum of 4 players. Each district will be invited
to field a complete or partial team at the section Championships. For example, if a district is only able to field
3.5/4.0, those pairings may compete to The outright winners for each level and gender will advance to the
National Invitational Championships at Indian Wells in March 2011. The Hawaii Pacific Section team advancing
to Nationals could be comprised of pairings from several districts.
Each District will determine the criteria for advancing their teams to the Section Championships.
For example, teams can be advanced through local league play, tournament or be selected as District Champions
in another league, etc.
The competition format for the Tri-Level Section tournament is the same as the other Section Championships for
the Hawaii Pacific Section. Each level and gender will complete a round-robin to determine the winner.
Matches are best 2 of 3 tie-break sets with a 10-point tiebreak (Coman) in lieu of a 3rd set.
Ad scoring will be used.
Regulations will be similar to the other Section Championships. A Fact Sheet will be distributed to each team once
the Championships have been awarded.
Note: Self Rated players are ineligible.
2011 USTA Tri-Level National Invitational Championship
The Finals:
March 17-21, 2012 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Home of the PNB Paribas Open.
The outright winners from the Section Championship will compete. Representation can be from multiple districts.
(e.g. 3.5w-from Maui, 3.5m-fromm Oahu, 4.0w-from East Hawaii etc.)
Registration of $125 per player is covered by the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section.
All other expenses such as travel, hotel and food are the responsibility of the player(s).
The tournament format is a compass draw. A designated captain for each team is responsible for line-up and score results.
Participants receive tickets to the BNP Paribas Open, banquet invitation, awards, gifts, t-shirts, snack and beverages.
